Leg Raises - Tone Your Lower Midsection

I'm sure you might have heard or even tried leg raises before. It is a workout aimed to tone and strengthen your lower abdominals.

A friend of mine said that this was a boring exercise. Do you think the same way? Then check out how to make this workout tougher.

Let's Get Down To It!

  • Lie flat on a mat with your hands placed on your sides.

  • Keeping your legs straight, raise your legs up at an angle to the floor.

  • Hold this position for 10 seconds before lowering them back to starting position.

  • Repeat this process 8 more times.

Keep An Eye Out For The Following...

  • Make sure you use your abdominal muscles.

Do not lift your head during the exercise as it can cause strains in the neck.

  • Do not hold your breath.

Keep your breathing normal during the entire workout.

Little Tips To Make Things Challenging

  • Raise your legs a little lower.

When you do this, you are actually increasing the difficulty of the workout. The amount of intensity you want to experience is entirely up to you!

  • Use some weights on your legs.

You can even use a stability ball. Clamp the ball with your legs and do the exercise itself. I tried this exercise and grunted throughout the whole 8 repetitions!
