High amount of fibre

Bananas contain a tonne of fibre in them, and this is great to help with bowel movements, making your trips to the washroom a lot more pleasant.

Besides that, research has also shown that more fibre in the body reduces the risk of getting diabetes. As surprising as that may sound for you, it goes to show that you should not ignore this fruit.

Keeps your kidneys, bones and blood in great condition

The high amount of potassium in bananas help prevent kidney stones from forming.

As for your bones, potassium is responsible for preventing calcium from being removed from the body, enabling maximum absorption by the bones, thus reducing the risk of osteoporosis in the long run.

Bananas contain Vitamin B6. This vitamin is necessarily for one of the most important process in the body - production of haemoglobin, which enables blood to carry oxygen to the rest of the body. Without Vitamin B6, we won't be able to survive!

Banana Smoothie Recipe


  • 2 medium bananas

  • 1 cup of yoghurt, plain or flavoured

  • Honey


Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend well. Taste the mixture and add additional honey if required, until you achieve your desired level of sweetness.

Choco-nana Smoothie


  • Dark chocolate, chopped to bits

  • 1/2 a cup of milk

  • 2 medium sized bananas

  • 3/4 cup of yoghurt


Start a water bath. A water bath would consist of a pot of boiling water, and another bowl placed on top of the boiling water.

Add your dark chocolate bits and let them melt. You don't have to stir them because it's a water bath!

Add milk, yoghurt and bananas to a blender and start blending for a minute. Check your chocolate. If they are completely melted, add them to the blender and continue mixing until you have a nice dark brown mixture.
