Back Stretching Exercises - Don't Suffer Back Pain Again!

Learning back stretching exercises is extremely important. You might know that many people suffer from back pain. I'm not surprised if you know a few friends or family members who have complained about back pain.

Therefore, make sure that you stretch yourself often. Quite often the injuries don't come from working out, it comes from surprising things like:

  • Poor posture at work or while walking
  • Lack of support from mattress while sleeping

These are the two reasons why so many people experience back pain so often. I can safely say that ninety percent of everyone doing a desk job does not take time to stretch, or have poor work ergonomics.

This means that your back gets strained, and why wouldn't it? After sitting for about 7 hours, not including break times and lunch, your back is bound to hurt from supporting your upper body weight through that entire time.

Also, some mattresses are bad at supporting your back when it comes to a good night's sleep. I'm not about to suggest that you fork out thousands on complicated technology foam. When you are out and choosing a bed, take care to select something that is firm.

Keep in mind: firm, not hard. Your back will thank you.

Back stretching exercises that you will learn:

  • Cat arch
  • Side stretch
  • Thigh tuck

Cat Arch Stretch

  • Go on your hands and knees.
  • Arch your back upwards and hold the stretch for 10 seconds.
  • Then arch your back downwards and hold the stretch for 10 seconds.

Side Stretch

  • Stand with your feet shoulder width apart.
  • Slowly twist your upper body to the left until you feel a stretch in your back. Hold the stretch for 10 seconds.
  • Twist the other way and hold the stretch for 10 seconds.

Thigh Tuck

  • Bring your knees to your chest.
  • Raise your head and shoulders off the floor and wrap your hands around your legs.
  • Gently pull yourself towards your knees until you feel a stretch. Hold the stretch for 10 seconds.

These are the three back stretching exercises that you should absolutely take some time to learn. They are easy to do and really helps relieve those tense muscles in your back. After all, tensed muscles lead to pain and discomfort!
